I have been so busy rushing around gathering last minute gifts and packing for the holiday break that I have been neglecting my blog. Today is no exception. Here's to wishing you all a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year!!

Industrial Lighting

Industrial lighting fixtures have been a staple in design world for quite some time now and I still can't get enough of it! It's a style that screams effortless and chic all at the same time.

Wabi-Sabi

Have you heard the term wabi-sabi and wondered what the hell does that mean?! Well I did.....But now that I understand its meaning I am 100% all about wabi-sabi! It's basically the idea of finding beauty in imperfection. "It values simplicity, uncluttered, underplayed and modest surroundings."

There's nothing I hate more than a perfectly pulled together room where everything looks like it belongs together. It just doesn't feel natural. A home should look like someone actually lives there! Fabrics don't need to perfectly coordinate, tables don't need to be flawless and chairs don't need to match. Most importantly, a home should be a reflection of the owner - objects that have meaning should take center stage.

To demonstrate the idea behind wabi-sabi, take a look at the ridiculously beautiful home of Commune designer Pamela Shamshiri featured in the current issue of House Beautiful.

Girly Gift Guide

I usually don't buy my Christmas gifts until the last minute but this year I've been scouring the web in search of things I can purchase from the comfort of my computer (while in my pjs with a glass of wine in hand).

I haven't found the perfect gift for those on my list but I did come across these great items......It's hard not to buy them for myself!

Happy Friday!!

Happy Friday Lovelies! Here's a little something to drool over.  For the reissue of Hans Wegner's 1970 stainless steel chair Carl Hansen & Son teamed up with Georg Jensen to create this amazing new version. The CH112 chair is plated with 24-karat gold and only costs a mere $10,055! Despite the crazy price tag, I am still in love.

Ombre Art

Ombré - a French word meaning "to shade."

If you haven't noticed, this style has been applied to any and everything these days! The biggest trend is the Ombré hair style. Yes, it is now cool to have roots.  But my favorite use of Ombré has to be in the art world. It's such a beautiful, soft, simple look that will work in any space. Not to mention the fact that it's a look that can easily be done DIY style. Paint chips and watercolor work best. I can't wait to create my masterpiece...

Happy Thanksgiving

I still can't believe Thanksgiving is already here! This is the time where most people sit and stress about the big meal but for me it's all about the decor. Unfortunately I'm not too skilled in the kitchen so you won't find me whipping up any elaborate entree.  I would much rather spend my time creating little touches around the home like these...

Meet My New Neighbor!

I doubt any of you live in my neighborhood so this probably isn't the most interesting piece of news...BUT West Elm is open on Beverly Blvd!! This is soooo close to my work (and home) - I no longer have to make the trek to Santa Monica.! I can't wait to visit the new showroom and spend some $$. Of all the chain home stores this is by far my favorite. They do a great job of mixing modern and eclectic styles. I especially love their holiday decor - it's fun and whimsical without being cheesy and expected. Today is a good day.

Co-Lab.

A little birdie called Lonny told me about a great new online magazine Co-Lab. It's full of so many great images I just had to pass it along! The mag is a collaboration between Chairloom and Super Rural - both amazing websites on their own. The images highlight their fabulous use of old furniture pieces and breathing new life into them.  It makes me want to go to a flea market and learn to reupholster!

Rope 'Em

I'm not a huge Nautical fan but for some reason I've been drawn to anything rope these days. It's not just being used for those decorative knot thingys that I can't stand!

It's making a comeback in a new way. Check it out...

A fun shot from the infamous Ace hotel in Palm Springs.
Not your typical interior but super fun for a hotel space.

$85 is a little steep for a door mat but this will last a long time!

I've been doing a lot of research to try and find new Vendors in Los Angeles and I happily stumbled upon Nickey · Kehoe.  Not only do they have a storefront on North Highland but they are super talented interior designers as well! Established by Todd Nickey & Amy Kehoe, the pair have an eye for vintage pieces and the ability to create unique spaces. Check 'em out!

Peach & Lavender Perfection

Although I've always dreamt about my wedding, I never had a clear vision of what I wanted. So I really just started making decisions on pieces that I like and it has evolved from there. One of my first decisions was the bridesmaid dresses. I searched for a beautiful grey dress but ended up going with a more lavender grey. The color palette has grown from there and I am loving a peach and lavender combo.

I recently came across these images from event designer Kelly Oshiro and I'm so in love. This perfectly conveys the color palette I am currently dreaming of. What do you think?

Mirror Image

Mirrors are a MUST for every home (and quite possibly every room). No, not because I'm vain and like to look at myself - they also serve other functions as well! A mirror will undoubtedly open up a space and bounce light around the room. They will add depth and dimension while reflecting the beauty around it. I need to purchase more mirrors...
