Rainy Days

With this rainy SoCal weather I find myself just wanting to snuggle up on the couch all day.....or how about on one of these?

2011 Color of the Year

Pantone just announced the 2011 color of the year and the winner is.....Honeysuckle! They chose the reddish-pink hue because it can "lift spirits and imparts confidence to meet life's ongoing challenges."  Hey, if a color can do all that why not incorporate it into your life?

Lonny Mag was on their game and used the vibrant color throughout their December issue that came out today!

It's Complicated

Even though it came out around this time last year, I just got around to seeing the movie It's Complicated this past weekend.  I'm never too fond of predictable, romantic comedies but seeing as though this took place in Santa Barbara (my hometown) I had to check it out.  The gorgeous scenery, combined with the work of acclaimed set designers Jon Hutman and Beth Rubino made for a great backdrop!  The director Nancy Meyers used the same design team to create the sets for Somethings Gotta Give and The Holiday. If you haven't seen the movie, here's a sneak peek into their signature style.  I wouldn't mind planting roots in this gorgeous home.

I love the neutral palette with pops of Orange and Navy Blue - such a classic look.
With plans to remodel the Kitchen in the movie, the set has a lived in, eclectic look.

Designer Goes Graphic

Fellow blog Coco & Kelley recently did a piece on designer Molly Leutkemeyer which lead me to browse her website.  Once there I was immediately submersed in a sea of color and excitement.  Molly manages to use bright graphics and bold colors in each space without being too overpowering and kitschy.  It's a nice change from the boring neutrals and safe color choices you so often see.  I can only hope to be as brave as her one day.  If you have the time, I suggest checking out her site.

Eichler Homes

With Christmas around the corner I am getting really excited to see my extended family in a few weeks. We are spending Christmas eve at my "Nani's" (grandmother) home in Northern California.  Ever since I can remember I've always looooved her home. It's a classic mid-century design and she's managed to hold on to a lot of the original furniture pieces inside.  It's what we call an "Eichler Home."  Joseph Eichler is known as one of the most influential builders of modern homes between the 1950s-1970s.  He brought modern architecture to middle-class Americans through his subdivisions in Northern California and greater Los Angeles.  I would love to get my hands on one of these some day....
